Postdoc positions

Applications are invited from candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields (e.g., Physics, Math, …).

Research topics: Parallel and distributed computing, cloud engineering and web 3.0 (including metaverse), HPC, and federated/distributed learning (or several of these fields). Candidates who perceive a multi-disciplinary approach and can work with applications in different research areas (medicine, NGS, chemistry, astrophysics, etc.) are welcome. The successful candidates will work on one of the international research projects involving the Parallel Computing research group; they are expected to travel across Europe and overseas to participate in project meetings and international conferences.

Requirements: Candidates are expected to conduct research (no teaching) addressing top-notch conferences and journals of the research area, and research outcomes will be evaluated yearly. The working language is English. The workplace is the Software and Integration lab of the Italian National Center on HPC and BigData (ICSC), which is already hosting 14 postdoc and PhD candidates on the same topics. Working hours in the office are flexible; you can work remotely when convenient, but being present is required for most days of the week (except during holiday periods).

Salary: The initial gross salary will range between 28k-34k€ per year before taxes (roughly equivalent to a salary varying between 1.7k-2.1k€ per month after taxes). Fixed term contract 1+1 or 2+2 years, with the possibility to apply for tenure track (associate professor).

Tenure tracks (associate professor)

In the year 2024, the Computer Science Department of the University of Torino will open 6 tenure-track positions for associate professors in Computer Science. The selection will happen through a competitive call for applications to be periodically released. Despite not being strictly required, the Italian National habilitation (or any equivalent title) is welcome. Candidates in Parallel Computing, HPC, and Federated Learning are invited to contact Prof. Marco Aldinucci marco.aldinucci AT unito.it
